Steven Weber Returns to Television
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, NBC,
What’s your TV screen been lacking these days? If you’re like me, you may have been thinking Steven Weber. Then again, he’s probably not the first name to come to mind, but he’s welcome on my TV any day. Weber, if you recall, last starred on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, which while overrated, was no fault of his. Think back a bit further and you may recall him from the series Wings, one of those classic little sitcoms with the great ensemble cast. Incidentally, how amazing does Weber’s Wings co-star Tim Daly look on Private Practice? Put him in the “never ages” hall of fame with Rob Lowe! Huh…? Oh, sorry, just daydreaming a bit there. Back to Weber, who will next be seen on NBC’s comedy Zip—this show has been bumping along without a green light since last spring, but once Weber was signed on as single dad/con man Trip Stringer, the show got the go-ahead. He’s replacing Rob Huebel, who starred in the original pilot. And speaking of Rob Lowe territory, Weber will make a guest appearance on Brothers & Sisters this season.

Chevy Chase Guests on Brothers & Sisters
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Drama, Late Night, Prime Time, ABC, NBC, Saturday Night Live,
It’s the age old question: when did Chevy Chase become un-funny? I mean, SNL, Caddyshack, Vacation, and Fletch—Chevy ruled the comedy scene. Then it was as if his tank approached empty and he sputtered with every Caddyshack/Vacation/Fletch sequel. Not to worry, however. He has managed to show up in some recent films and even appeared on an episode of Law and Order last year (not to mention dropping in on SNL last weekend). So, his comedy chops may have fizzled, but he’s still around. Next up? A guest appearance on Brothers & Sisters, playing an ex-boyfriend of Nora’s (Sally Field). We’ll be seeing him on the series sometime in 2008 and he’ll stick around for a few episodes. I’m just hoping Chevy’s storyline is a little more interesting than last season’s guest, Peter Coyote, who played Nora’s potential love interest. And, since it’s a drama, he doesn’t even need to try and engage that dormant funny bone of his. Aww, I kid Chevy. I love Brothers & Sisters and I’m looking forward to seeing what role he’ll play.
